There is nothing more reassuring on a Saturday morning than to see a semi-moody watercolor, especially a semi-moody Batman watercolor.
What I like:
The use of color- You are a watercolor master, and you know that this is a light piece as opposed to a mood piece. Especially with the bats in the background behind Bruce, soaring and fading into the distance.
What to think about:
The message you want to convey- One thing that I wonder about this piece is why Bruce looks so forlorn, and literally blue. The use of shapes makes me suspect a Picasso influence, using mild abstract images like his literally blue face and sad expression.
This may be my bias, however, given the numerous interpretations of Batman ever since his 1930s incarnation, but it seems that he got into a bad fight with Mr. Freeze, the DC universe's tragic villain, and needs a hot bowl of soup. This was probably not the message you intended, however, so I'm confused.
With art, however, you don't have to explain your intention to the viewer, as long as your intention is clear to you. If Batman is forlorn because it was a heavy night of crime, with no real winners, or because it was a night with NO crime, then it has to be clear to you. We are merely the viewers who will dissect the image until all that's left are watercolor shreds.
I hope you do more Batman, and tell us when you paint more fanart!
